WHY THE NAME "THE WELL"? |
 |
|
Hemingway
knew that staring down that white bull – while wielding nothing more than a fountain pen – is truly one of the most intimidating of all intellectual pursuits.

The answer is simple: The Well is the place where fresh ink is held. And
fresh ink is the lifeblood of all truly great ideas.
Because, in the end, every writer, artist, and strategic thinker is
ultimately judged by the quality of the ink-stained thoughts he or she
splashes down upon that most intimidating of all business tools–
the blank piece of paper.
A long, long time ago, Hemingway (Ernest, not Margaux) referred to the
blank page as “the white bull.” Like anyone who’s ever
been slumped over a desk begging the Muses for that next big idea, Hemingway
knew that staring down that white bull–while wielding nothing more
than a fountain pen–is truly one of the most intimidating of all
intellectual pursuits.
Our agency’s name is a tribute to those who are unafraid to start
that flow of ink, no matter how much their inner critic tries to throw
an insurmountable writer’s block before them.
Whether it’s an arresting headline, an astonishing visual idea,
or a laser-focused strategic insight, we empty our inkwells every day
as we create the ideas that our clients need to stand out from the crowd–and
kick some serious financial buttocks in the marketplace.
So now that you know how our name came to be, we invite you to reach
for that nearest well of India ink and raise a toast to all of those who
stare down “the white bull” on a daily basis. Of course, the
number of gulps you decide to throw down your gullet is a personal matter,
and one you should discuss with your current health care provider.
